New 2023-24 School Map

We are happy to report that the classroom reorganization at BES is complete and everyone has now had some time to settle into their new spaces! We want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to our students and staff for their help and patience and to the BCHS students and staff who volunteered to help with the move. It was definitely a team effort!
Check out the New BES School Map 2025-25 for more details on the new layout.

WHAT CHANGED?

IMPROVED FLOW – Moving from Kindergarten on the far east side of the building to Grade 6 on the far west side of the building.
  • All Kindergarten to Grade 3 classes (Division 1) are now located on the east side
  • All Grade 4 to Grade 6 classes (Division 2) are now located on the west side
  • Increased opportunities for staff collaboration within and between grades
  • Increase opportunities for sharing of resources within and between grades
  • More natural transitions for students as they progress from one grade to the next each year
  • Improved safety with students of similar ages/grades sharing common spaces (e.g., hallways, pods, bootrooms)

IMPROVED ACCESS TO SUPPORTS – Both sides of the school will have their own:

  • Flex Room (sensory/break space) with age-appropriate equipment and resources
  • Literacy Support Room with age-appropriate tools and resources
  • Student Support Spaces where staff can work with students individually or in small groups
  • Accessible Bathroom
  • Access to the office, gymnasiums, and Snoezelen Room, which will remain centrally located for all students

WHY THE CHANGE?

As a school, we recognized there was potential to better meet the learning and mobility needs of students and staff. BES staff spent time at our school planning day in April discussing potential plans to reorganize classrooms and spaces within our school. Each grade group team offered feedback and suggestions to ensure that the needs of all students in all grades, as well as staff, were considered and addressed. There are many benefits to the new configuration of the school for both individual students and the school community as a whole!
